Sea of Peace House of Prayer is an ecumenical retreat center, located on Edisto Island, about one hour by car from Charleston, S.C. Located near a tidal marsh, the habitat is friendly to indigenous animals, including many colorful birds. One may come for one day or many, in solitude or with spiritual companioning.
Sea of Peace, at Edisto Island, was founded in 1995 by two Adrian Dominican sisters who saw the need for an ecumenical place of spirituality and self-discovery. Sea of Peace welcomes those seeking a few days’ retreat from the busy world they inhabit, those planning sabbaticals, and those wishing to explore the depth of their spirituality. Retreats can be scheduled by the day, week or month, and include lodging and all meals. For an extra charge retreatants may be picked up at the Charleston International Airport. Call the center at 843-869-0513 or email sharonculhane@bellsouth.net for directions to the center, availability, or a brochure detailing Sea of Peace offerings.
